Sometimes I wonder if the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it. - Mark Twain

Two great presents
Present #1 - after the longest, grayest, coldest, nastiest winter and spring I have spent here - it's sunny! And I don't mean sun break - I mean all-day sun. And it is supposed to last through Wednesday, on which day I will be en route to visit my family in sunny (I hope) California.
Yippee!! If you live outside of the Pacific Northwest or Alaska, I suppose this means little...but I am SO much happier when the sun is out. (Don't just take my word for it...the "breaking news" headline in our metro area paper is, "Lots of sunshine in store for today.")
Present #2 - Mr. RK bought me "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" by Dr. Seuss.
Do you remember this book? The illustrations are in black and white, except for the oobleck, of course, which is green.
It is the same Bartholomew from "The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins," I believe.
Who could resist buying a book with the word "oobleck" in the title?
I love kids' books. I have many of them.
Do you have a favorite one that's still on your shelf?

There is a book that brings back sepia toned memories. I no longer have it on my bookshelf but it was my favorite when I was a small child:
"Worldwide UC Applications Adoption: When, Where, and How Will Firms Buy UC? Top Findings About UC at Large U.S. Enterprises"
Sniff.....
"Where the Wild Things Are" because my mom says I WAS Max when I was little. Very, very naughty. And very cute.
I also have every single favorite book of the kids, saved in tubs to hand out as they have their own kids.
The Lorax was my favorite Dr Seuss.
Happy SUNDAY!!!!
Amelia Bedelia and The Surprise Shower. LOVE her!
It's too much sun here in Singapore - too hot and it's unbearable.
I proudly display all of my books from my childhood on my shelves! I would have to say that I love my Richard Scary Book that contains like 50 different stories. I also love my "Little Critter" series of books, as well as "Horton Hears a Who" not to mention my Mother Goose Stories book. I love them all!!!!
We have sun here in the UK and I have to say it's great, just to get outside and work on the land and not feel trapped in the house the whole time.
I remember as a child having this book about a large ball of string. For any book to stay in my mind, it must have been good, but I can't remember what it was called or who it was by. I wouldn't be saying the same thing about music of course!
Good Treats! Yay! We had a wonderful sunny Saturday but it's gotten decidedly more "rainier" since then. I'm holding out hope that Michigan will have a summer this year (and, again hopefully, it will occur sometime before August). I think that I actually enjoy children's books more as an adult. The only thing I can remember reading as a young child is The Pokey Little Puppy...
It's raining here and I love it. The rain just makes the ambience more personal, like an old black and white photograp; to me it's not depressing or oppressive. Of all nature's weather modes rain is my favorite. I also have next to me Where The Wild Things Are. I purchased this book a few years back as I was passing through the kids section at the book store. I will always love the images and ideas in it. So, for the next few days as it rains, and with my TV now dead, I will sit and read WTWTA as well as other books of varying kinds and just enjoy the time of contemplation and reflection my friend the rain affords me.
The sun was shining here too over the weekend but today it's cool and rainy.
One of my favoritew books was "Alexander and The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" I now read it to my children.
Ooooh, Aliceson, that one is good! I like to go into my own Alexander rendition when my son starts pouting about something (I know, I'm a berry, berry bad mommy-thing).
The 'Bone' books are my sons favorites. My daughter likes the Olivia books a lot. I of course love 'Where the Wild Things Are'. And my son just read us 'The Giving Tree' all by himself which is a big book for him so that made me almost cry that he did it. And it made it one of my favorites. But it's kind of a sad book to tell you the truth.
ironically, the sun makes me very, very cranky and irritable. I hate the heat. Always have, probably always will. I suck.
I'm an equal opportunity weather hater - I hate the heat, too. :) It just hasn't gotten to the horrible point yet.
I am not looking forward to the hot humid weather we will soon get...
Fall is my favorite time of the year and I don't mind winter.
Books I love books..
I think my favorite was Black Beauty.. Bet that dates me.. *grin*
