Sometimes I wonder if the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it. - Mark Twain

Sweet!
For those of you who think I am a cynical schmuck, I do have a soft side...and sometimes there are stories that just put me in my place.
Check out this article about a blind Vancouver, Washington man who holds no grudge against the drunk driver who hit him three times and broke several of his bones. This sweet man's only Easter wish was to attend mass, but the care facility he lives in does not provide that service.
Well guess what?
Here's the follow up. Not only did he get his wish - an anonymous woman paid for a paratransit service to take him to mass today - but literally hundreds of people who read the story called with offers of help.
They want to start a fund to help him get back and forth to church.
There's a bit of humanity just in time for Easter.

You old softie! *gets justa little bit teary...* Ahem!
Anyway, back to being cynical now.
Gee, and cynical me thought that Christians were all too busy bashing gays to be bothered with details like helping their fellow man. I have to say, this story did warm my stony litle heart.
Every church should have a sign up sheet for people who are willing to give rides to others wanting to attend church. Or even better, the church should assign different people each month to be responsible for getting others to church--especially people like this remarkable man.
This does seem to be a story of Christians getting Christianity "ight. As Mahatma Ghandi once said: "I do not like your Christians..they are so unlike your Christ." This guy seems to have got it down...
You hide behind your sarcastic facade, but I know who your favorite Care Bear is - and it's not Grumpy Bear!!
Tag--you're kinda it!

Awww! That's fantastic! My grandparents have some friends that pick them up for church every weekend. I know my Grandma likes to go (Grandpa would rather take a nap) and if she didn't have a ride she might not.
Happy Easter RK :D
That's pretty sweet. Sometimes there is a bit of goodness in that pours out of our fellow man... normally it's the type of "goodness" that I have no interest in seeing poured out, but that's beside the point.
I heard a very similar quote from Ghandi that went, "I would become a Christian if not for those who claim to be." Sad on so many levels...first and foremost that something beautiful got twisted to where stories like this are the exception rather than the rule. Good story.
Brilliant. Sometimes, I love people.

We used to take an elderly lady to church each week. Does that make me sweet too?
There are many Christians out there doing good things.
I loved this story. There are some good people left in the world. :)
Hope you had a nice Easter...and have a great week!
Yes, Joey, you are sweet! Sorry, I know you try to claim to be a miserable git ;)
