Aw, nuts!

Sorry for the delay in posting! Things have been super busy here (I guess busy is the new normal) with preparations for comings and goings.

Meanwhile, our neighbors have installed a squirrel feeder. I know you're not supposed to feed wildlife, but these guys seem rather domesticated - and so far, it's keeping them from my strawberries.

Last year, they literally took one bite out of each berry like fucking Goldilocks. They'd rather have nuts anyway, right?

So before I embarked on the distribution of nuts yesterday, Mr. RK set up his "squirrel cam" and made this video. (Watch with the sound on. You'll be glad you did.) We wanted to have the theme music be, "I Want it All, and I Want it Now," by Queen, but they aren't licensing their songs on You Tube yet.

And speaking of back yards (or patios), I've been inspired to get some rainbow tea lights.  To make my yard relentlessly gay.

Seriously, does anyone else wish they had that much time on their hands? I LOVE this (straight) woman's response. You go, rainbow girl! I wonder what her idiot neighbors would think about Rainbow Brite.

No excuses. Write in your sleep if you have to.

"up home" we fed our huge squirrels until they started lining up at our patio doors at the same time every day. Then, we ALL sat at the patio table and they would wait their turn, then lay down on the cool brick floor. Florida squirrels are tiny little jumpy creatures that won't tame.

Try enjoying them!

Oh, Rainbow Brite is as queer as a three dollar bill alright. She was my girlfriend back in the 90s, man. Bitch broke my heart.

Everyone's back yards should be relentlessly gay.

Those squirrels look like vicious little bastards. :D

Great move by her, no room for hate anywhere in the world. Great video, made me smile. Nice of you to share.

Hooray for 'relentlessly gay'. Who shows a more Christian attitude than her neighbour.
Love the squirrels too.

That video is so wonderful. I sat watching it with a smile across my face. The chubby little bloke in the forefront wasn't going to budge from his choice position until he'd finished! They are such pretty little creatures. The soundtrack suited the action!

Every afternoon I have regular feathered visitors here...same time every day...and if I'm running late they're not backward in letting me know! I have kookaburras, butcher birds, magpies, currawongs and a couple of crows who gather daily for their share of the meat trimmings from the meat I cut up for my two rascals...Remy and Shama's dinner. They're all quite tame and friendly now. They know when they're onto a good thing! :)

Classical music, eh? What, no PDQ Bach or Classical Gas?

Yeah, I got my share of Screwy Squirrel in my front yard, simply because the dogs chased them out of the backyard. Even managed to box one in on my porch. Wish I had my camera because it experienced roughly 30 seconds of pure terror trying to decide if I was going to do something bad to it (had two armfuls of groceries so there was no way in Diaper Dan's world of school reform welfare that anything bad was going to happen). It eventually disappeared through the railing but it was simply hilarious to watch.

"This is a Christian area and there are Children" - hahahaha! Jeez(us)...
A squirrel feeder, hmm. Squirrels scare me. They are relentlessly stupid on the bike paths. Either that or relentlessly suicidal. Nice video!

LOVE that Video.....Very hungry and aggressive little guys, aren't they? They sure loved those goodies on that plate....! And, perfect music, too....lol!
Relentlessly Gay.....Someone should write a song using that phrase.....
It looks very cheerful, colorful and fun, to me..... We need MORE Relentlessly Gay decorations in this world!

Actually feeding squirrels sounds weird to me. We try to feed only the birds but we can't keep the squirrels out

Aw, can't see Mr. RK's video. :( The video on your link on the other hand...bring on the rainbow tea lights!

That's so funny when that one squirrel smacked the others away. I used to have some bird seed that contained nuts, but the squirrels ruined it for everyone. :)

And that neighbor? Just a terrible person for complaining like that. LOVE those tea lights!

Hey Riot Kitty!

You do realise that squirrels are going to take over the world? Which is a surprise to cats.

The Gayer the Garden, the Briter the Rainbow.

I have "time on my hands". Yes, I literally wrote that on my hands and have picture proof.

Those squirrels are so cute! Her yard makes her gay? I have tons of colors in my house and my yard and I'm not gay. I just like bright colors. Her response is perfect!

Finally, I get to see the video! LOL Love the classical music and what's up with the squirrel bullies who won't let the little one eat? Aww...but so cute!

When I was in high school, we had a squirrel that I just couldn't stop feeding bread. After some time he would sit on my lap and eat. He would stuff his cheeks until he couldn't stuff them anymore, and then run away to eat his prizes in peace.

We named him Sparky, and Sparky got really fat. The American way. 'Merica !

The Goldilocks thing made me laugh out loud. Growing up, my parents had an apple tree in the backyard, and every year when the apples started coming in the squirrels would take a bite of each one, then huck it to the ground where it would lay rotting. That tree would grow hundreds of apple, but by the time all was said and done we could pick maybe 10-20. The rest all had a single bite. Finally my parents had the tree cut down because it was such a waste.

WTF, squirrels? If you don't like them, why bite every single damn one? The next one isn't going to be any better!
