Blogorama...hear me roar...er, meow.

So I have had so much stuff on my mind that I wanted to post about...I'll just post it all! Well, short versions...

Scarlet - I love how you asked for my address to send a "note" and also sent a fantastic candle...which looks expensive and now I feel guilty...but I love it! How did you know I love candles?

Speaking of secrets...Pheromone Girl's post got me thinking. How many secrets do we have? I suppose I have a lot but not consciously. I just don't spill my guts to just anyone.

Then I started to think about women and anger - and Brittany's post about angst continued that train of thought.

Adrienne Rich wrote that women writers should theoretically be writing about anger all the time, because we have so much sexist crap to deal with. What do you think?

I think society for the most part is still scared to hear a woman roar.

And back to Scarlet and PG, who have both blown me away by thanking me for "being me." Which is a relatively new experience because most of my life I've been told that I need to tone it down, stop swearing so much, be less intense...by men, mainly. Well, fuck that.

So I'll close with something I blurted out once that I am SO GLAD I said.

Guy I've dated a couple of times: "You shouldn't swear so much."
Me: "Why, does it offend you?"
Guy: "No, but it's just not very lady-like."
Me: "Fuck you!"

I called him later and apologized, but fortunately, I had put him off already :)

My oldest son spent his whole life in academia of some form or another until he was almost 30, then, between enrollments had to take a job in a grocery store. He had always prided himself on not swearing. We noticed that the longer he worked there the more of those words found their way into his vocabulary.

Now, working in his degrees (astronomy and physics) he's finding it hard to remove them from use. He was complaining to his Mom about it on the phone the other day and gathering what the conversation was I chimed in from across the room:

"Remind him he's the son of two sailors and ask him what he expected"?

Love the post!

Ooh you've inspired me to write something on my blog! It may not totally agree with your post. I hope that's ok? It's just you've triggered off some good thoughts.

I always like that in a post. :)

LMAO. *falls off chair* I love it.

Let's use your candle and start a religion called Scarleterianism. Scarleterians would be people who read her blog and think she's neat. Movies would be involved, as would trying new things, and taking photographs. I really think we should. And remember, Kitty...no swearing in church! *falls off chair again*

Alan: What a great story :)
Fireblossom: I will join that religion!

Joey: You are so funny. I hope you are just kidding about asking permission. It's your blog, you can write "I hate RK and she sucks..."

Ooh - I want to use the "child of sailors" excuse. My kids have always been allowed to swear - during trips through a tunnel (you know, when nobody, not even god, can hear them?) It was awesome to hear them try to say something shocking to their mom when they wre little. Now, they don't swear much - they learned a little lesson called "there is a place for everything" and it still cracks me up.

Especially when we go through a tunnel!

I'm on board with Scarleterianism. I think we need a secret handshake and code word, too!

I've been starting to believe that I'd be a hell of a lot happier if I was "less angry," but it feels so impossible to be zen in a world as fucked as ours. I don't know how to balance out the good and bad anger, assuming any anger is good. I just know that I lie awake at night, rolling negative thoughts around in my head, and less anger has got to get me some more sleep, right? I wish I knew what the hell I was talking about... :)

Beautiful dialogue between you and Mr. Clean. I LOVE it! :D~

You're very welcome on the candle thing, and no, it's not that you're syrupy sweet or anything like that (God forbid!), but you're kindhearted AND real (and I haven't even met you personally!)...so that's refreshing.

I totally appreciate you and I want you to know it.

Btw, I'd like to encourage you to be a bit more direct, a little more intense, so to speak. ;)

My youngest son is a truck driving potty mouth.. :D
It does bother me when he is around his kids, other wise nothing shocks me anymore.

Sorry about the stalker Kitty and ViVa

So it's written, and I didn't mention hating your guts once! But you might be hating mine soon! :/

See, I'm a fan of ladylike...and of swearing. I don't think they're mutually exclusive. Because that's how I roll.

I think if men can swear, so can we! We get angry too, dammit! lol

What a great post; everything you said here is so true, whether women want to admit it or not. As far as we've come it's still a really sexist society and while I'm not much of a feminist, certain things still piss me off. A lot.
I love what you said to that d-bag guy!
