So we have an information and referral line at work, where we give out information for support groups, etc. Because we have a small staff (two full-time and one part-time), my boss and I end up taking some of the calls when we don't have volunteers to staff the line.
I had two calls Friday morning from this guy just wanted to talk - giving me waaaaaay too much information. After I gave him some support group information (that was the reason, supposedly, that he had called,) I kept politely telling him I wasn't qualified as a therapist so he really should discuss these issues with his counselor (he had one.)
TMI is TMI! "this woman stomped on my heart, and my brother told me she was just after my paycheck and my dick!"
Mr. RK said, "At least she wasn't just interested in his paycheck!"
Said my friend Ms. J, "That's right! Money isn't everything."

I understand why you can't give advice being that you are not a therapist. Are you allowed to give practical advice like telling them how to get even. Sending a package to her work with "your video of how to have sex with a goat has arrived" works well. Why waste all that energy on depression?

Reminds me of a chat room bud who was deciding whether or not to dump his girlfriend.
He listed all of her negatives, and one big ass positive, in which we told him that was something you simply don't share among your female friends, you keep it to your guy friends, and you definitely don't post it publicly.
The one positive?

Haha! People are too much! I had a student of mine share the "random fact" that she might be pregnant on the first day of class. Everyone else in the class of 18 and 19 year olds had given me a favorite color or favorite song...but not this girl.
I bet he would have preferred it if she was JUST after the latter, not the former.
All I can think about is that saying "A good man is hard to find, but a hard man is so good to find".

I am amazed at how much information that SHOULD be private people are not just happy to share...they are panting after an opportunity to share it like a dog after a treat.
Bus and MAX rides were the worst...random people wanting to share their most intimate details. I have never understood that.
I am so private that I don't even liketo discuss how we will pay for the meal at the restaurant...I want that decided ahead of time. Or is that TMI?
I agree with you - TMI. And there does sound like there was a certain amount of flattery there in what the woman was looking for. :)
