Apparently, I'm not a very good hunter

You've heard of cats that drag in mice and other rodents, offering them as gifts for their humans? Mr. RK did some research, and apparently they do this because they think we aren't very good hunters and want to help out. (Seriously, I am not making this up.)

Our kitties are indoor kitties, and (thank God) thus far we have not seen any rodents nearby. Lucky has, however, decided that we aren't very good hunters (I'm a vegetarian, and Mr. RK doesn't eat a lot of meat), and lately he has been bringing us his fake mouse toy!

Last night, he was whining, and when I looked up from my book he had left these in our bedroom doorway:

So even though I can swear with the best of them, my cat is not impressed with my hunting and gathering skills.

Our old indoor cat (RIP Bobby) used to sneak out of the house just to hunt and bring us lovely presents. Good thing your cats don't venture outside.

Awww. Lucky just loves you so much that he wants to bring you treasures to say "thank you!" for his happy life that you provide for him and Earl Grey!

Aww how cute! :D Our cats were indoor cats but if they ever got outside they'd bring back half dead frogs and birds. Lovely.

Gotta say that thing on the right looks a bit evil. :D

How adorable is that??

PS - My cats could give a rat's ass about me! I've never rec'd such goodies...from Tabitha OR Kimba. :(

How about that? Pretty smart of them,I think. My neighbor's mostly outside cat kept bringing me dead chipmonks as a gift. I was sweeping leaves off my back porch one day and encountered one and screamed. :)

hahaa..my cat used to do that for my mom. Maybe with a little ketchup, the black thing would taste ok? lol

Now if he could only bring you the morning paper :)

A: Yes, one more perk about them being indoor kitties!
FB: That is so sweet! Either that, or he considers them leftovers ;)
Darth: You will have to tell me more!
Joey: That would be disgusting indeed. The thing on the right is a lizard (I think.) I suppose he looks creepier with the bell on the end of his tongue.
Ily: Maybe they just know you're a good hunter ;)
L: That would definitely make me scream. Or possibly pass out.
J: LOL! It's a wind-up mouse...that would be an interesting menu. "Wind-up mouse with ketchup." Gourmet!
GT: I know, right? :)
GA: I laughed so much I almost fell onto the floor out of bed.

We have two kittehs who carry around their teeny stuffed monkeys, an octopus, and any number of mice toys. There's usually one waiting at my bedside every morning when I wake up...

We have managed to teach Pete to fetch, too. Nothing cuter than a wiggly butt kitty chasing after a milk-ring from the gallon jug then bringing it to my lap for another go...

We always ask ourselves: why bother buying toys when really all they want to do is play with the box or the bag or the tag?

Skye: You have taught your kitty to fetch?! My friends are impressed that my kitties come when we call them, but that really takes the cake ;)

I always thought my boys were giving me gifts. Guess I'm a crappy huntress as well. Nice to know my boys can damage my self esteem after all. Thanks.

SBBTC: No no! I'm sure they are meaning it as a kindly gesture :)
