Does it get up and dance?

I'm not into chocolate for its own sake, but I do like to visit a locally-owned cafe called Moonstruck: A Chocolate Cafe. I like cocoa and I like other desserts.*

Now, I've written about Moonstruck before when they tried to get all corporate and hoity toity. They listened to customer feedback and went back to normal - for awhile.

Now, my little bro and other members of my family, including Mr. RK, adore the chocolate bars from this cafe. They're not cheap ($3.50) but sometimes I send them down to California or bring them home.

Darth Weasel was nice enough to take me and Mr. RK there for my birthday, and gave me a gift card. When we went, I noticed a new chocolate bar for $7.

You read that correctly.

I went last night for a sundae and low and behold, they are replacing the $3.50 bars with a $7 bar.

Now, mind you, I know you get what you pay for, and dessert is no exception. But $7?

That's more than a dollar per inch.

At that price, I have to ask: what does this chocolate bar do for me? Instant orgasm? Make me happier, shinier, and nicer? Does it get up and dance?

Any ideas?

PS A tip for the uninitiated: don't do a Google image search for "dancing chocolate" without expecting some, um, surprises.

*Please note: the writer of this blog is prone to understatement.

Ha! I'd pay $7 for orgasmic chocolate (not to be confused with organic chocolate) anyday! :)

Some would call a dollar per inch pretty cheap. I don't know what those people are talking about but they seemed sad for some reason.

I love chocolate, but for $7.00 I want it to be zero calories :0)

For that price it better make me instantly *shed* five pounds, no pain, no fuss, no gym. Just the magical $7 chocolate bar...Heck, I'd pay $10 bucks for that...

Hope you are well, Riot!

Well - I did moan a little when I ate that chocolate. :) That's a lot of $$$ though.

Perhaps the cocoa beens were lovingly handpicked in the fields, cleaned with dew and hand carried to the back room of the store where they each became one with water and milk to bring out the very best chocolate for your palate.

Which explains the incredibly high markup for the bar. Gotta recover their expenses somehow.

Besides, isn't the Left coast know for charging/spending outrageous sums of money for stuff that will last about as long as a misquito bit in the summer?

A dollar an inch? Is it dark or plain? I might be interested.

Have a nice day, Boonie

For 7 bucks it better make you feel tingly in the pants at the very least.

If I was to purchase a seven dollar chocolate bar for a woman, I would be expecting an orgasm. Not instant, but you know...

And you want me to believe that, eh? You are way too curious to let a 7 dollar chocolate bar pass you by without researching WHY it costs the shirt from your back! I know I would be! :D

For a dollar an inch it better look like Johnny Depp and give me a back rub!

WIGSF: Where is your blog, I miss you!
Skye: Long time no hear! I suppose I would be better with a $7 bar?

Yikes! I can afford that if it's Zimbabwean dollars. Glad I don't like chocolate.

I'm not really into chocolate and think it's all over priced! Especially American chocolate that always tastes a bit like vomit to me. :D

7 bucks? what does it think it is, a gallon of gas?*

* I don;t THINK the stupid joke is as subtle as it is stupid...but for the younger readers, gas was under a buck when I started driving, jumped to over 4 bucks a couple years ago, then became "reasonable" at 3 bucks a gallon. Now...read how much my good friend says "reasonable" prices are for a 25 cent candy bar....

To answer your question, I took down my blog-shingle and hung up my boots instead.

WIGSF: Yeah, but why?

I've got nothing left to say.

Hi! Just an FYI, the classic bars from Moonstruck (regular dark, milk, ivory, mayan, etc) have only gone up $0.50 to $4.00. The $7 bar is a Single Origin Chocolate, meaning that each bar is made up of beans from a specific region - 2 are from Venezuela, and one from the Dominican Republic. It is absolutely worth the $7!! Single Origin bars on the market run anywhere between $5-$12!!!
