Ah, nuts.

I saw this great quote from actress Gabourey Sidibe today, and wanted to share it.

It seems that Sidibe, the Academy Award-winning actress from the movie "Precious," got a letter from a diet supplement company claiming to be "concerned" with her weight, and coincidentally wanting her to be its new spokesperson. Apparently, the letter jabbed that "the ONLY way you'll win an Oscar" is to lose weight.

And you know what? She had this to say:

"I learned to love myself, because I sleep with myself every night and I wake up with myself every morning, and if I don't like myself, there's no reason to even live the life."

I was so proud of that - and then I came home and read a post from my friend Claire that made me want to cry, scream, and hit the little dick motherfuckers who inspired it.

I spent a lot of my younger life being bullied - roughly the time I developed anxiety (age six) to the time I decided I wasn't going to befriend the ex-boyfriend who had pressured me into sex, dumped me, and then tried to be friends with me (age 15.) After that, something snapped...and I became more of a riot kitty.

But during that time, I was a mouse. I got picked on for various things, ranging from my teeth (for years after they were no longer crooked, I covered my mouth when I smiled), my clothes (hey, it was the 80s), and later, my lack of boobs or butt. It didn't occur to me to stick up for myself. When I learned that technique, it didn't occur to other people to pick on me.

And happily, now, I can tell you that my teeth are no longer crooked, and I'm satisfied with clothes, boobs and butt.

I have learned that bullies are insecure motherfuckers who usually have small dicks. I'm sure that's the case of the weenies at the gym, Claire (who by the way definitely does not qualify as "huge"), and if I had been at the gym with you, I'd not have had your grace in turning the other cheek...

I'd have kicked them in the nuts.

hopefully some day people will learn basic decency and courtesy. It will be a better world

There is one reason weaselly little cowards like that do what they do. Simply because they think they can, and they want to shovel some of their bad feeling off onto someone else.

They are vermin.

Great Post!

Those diet companies don't care about nothing and nobody, they only care how to fill their pockets through the insecurity and self-image of many people.
Sidibe is a wonderful person with the right attitude.

And bullies are losers... (kick them hard) lol

Darth: I hope so. In the meantime, I believe in karma!
FB: Good points. Vermin is a good name for them.
H: Also good points. And good advice ;)

Chica, where were you when I needed a riot kitty friend when I was 6?? (NOT BORN YET...that's where you were!) lol

She didn't have nuts, but my kindergarten teacher made my life a living hell and I should've kicked her ass!

Great post and quote by Sidibe! Self love and acceptance go a long way.

I've just been onto Claires blog and commented there so I'll leave it at that I think. I kind of have a large lump in my throat.

Those little hellions have a future standing on top of office buildings doing construction. Nasty in groups, it seems.

What a great post, sweetie! Just genius. I cannot believe the gall of that company...and love how Gabourey dealt with it. Thanks also for the shout out, bless you...some people are fail, right?*

Thank you so much for posting this. I've been slacking on my Hollywood news and somehow missed this. Bravo for her! As someone struggling with my weight since age 12, I don't know if I would have had the courage to say that. That letter would have made me cry and I would have contacted them quickly and signed up. I wish I could be as cool as her!

I also agree totally with what you said about bullies!

Ily: I needed a riot kitty when I was 6! You can still kick her ass...
Joey: I will go read it :)
Lynn: Exactly! BTW, I once saw a group of women hit on a group of construction workers who got really ticked off!
Claire: Big hugs. Scheduler's ready!
But in a couple of months when you do your run, you can stride on in their and say, "I did it, up yours!"
A: I know, she's amazing, right? The diet industry is just full of sick people.
S: OK!

Joey: I just read your comment - both of you are perfect just the way you are!

It started in High School.
There was this kid in my French class. He was quite strange, really shy, but smarter than most folks knew (I sat next to him, I knew).
One day, the class bully started in on the "dorky" kid. I knew this bully, I had called him on his Bullshit a couple years before when he tried to test the "new kid" (me). He wasn't shit then, I knew he still hadn't learned much, except maybe not to pick on me again.
I stopped mr asshole in his tracks, embarrassing him in front of all those ladies he was trying to impress by picking on the "dork".
It's fun to bully a bully. I enjoyed that experience so much, I've done it often since. Sometimes, I defend perfect strangers, just because I so dislike those fucking bullies.

Yes, I am the same Holland often mentioned on Ily's blog.

Your friend Claire is a true lady and she did the right to ignore them. What is the point in talking to loud-mouth bullies who posses the IQ of a sidewalk?

Mac: Good for you!
Holland: Good point.
