This week, at work, really.

I receive an email from someone thanking me for the interview, but declining to do an internship. The caveat: I've never met or interviewed this person. There is another person at one of our local chapters in another county that has the same first name as me - that's who she interviewed with. You'd think she'd get the contact information right.

I get a phone call from a hypnotherapist, who says, over and over, "I am really good at what I do!" (Don't tell me...hypnotize me. Oh wait, you charge money for that.)

I get in this morning and find four empty beer bottles in the sink. My boss walks in and says to my coworker, "Sorry I didn't clean up after the board meeting, I was totally just wiped out and went home!" I say, "The beer bottle cleanup? That was me." Who the hell knows what they get up to at board meetings? One morning I came in after a meeting and I found Brazil nuts and glitter on the floor.

A person who tried to convince my biggest sponsor not to support our organization anymore, after being kicked off of our board and being turned down for a job at our organization a few years ago, is now asking for a FREE table at our biggest event. (Yes, you heard me snickering.)

Tomorrow we're at an all day training, and because it's a small group of us, we're going to lunch, rather than having stuff delivered. The restaurant is called HoHo. Really.

How has your week been?

My mind is boggling at the Brazil nuts and glitter. I think I would have had to ask for an explanation. And would have threatened to braodcast my own version if one had not been forthcoming. Can you tell I was not a good corporate employee?

The person asking for the FREE table is the most confounding!
Like, "WHAT?" I don't understand that at all!!!!

So tempted to throw glitter all over the floor after our next staff meeting!

Ah, you meet such wonderful people :-)

My week has been great - exhausting, but great.

HoHo (is that a Asian restaurant?) Wonder what they had gotten up to at the Brazil nut / glitter party. :)

Your organization must have pretty entertaining board meetings. I am currently on a board and I can honestly say the entertainment value is at the same level as a root canal.

As for the person wanting the table..funny how their memory became amnesiac when they wanted something.

I was at a board meeting today. Alas, no brazil nuts, glitter OR beer.

I don't know where you work but I think I need to work there. Brazil nuts and glitter? What's not to love?

TEC: I think we would have fun working together, come to think of it. I was not a good corporate employee either, hence the job at a nonprofit.
Naomi: I was more tempted to say, "Fuck off!", but the request came from a third party :)
Claire: Go for it! It wouldn't be out of place at a school, come to think of it, it might be crafty.
RC: Glad to hear that about your week. And yes, I do meet some interesting folk.
Lynn: Yes - the first good Chinese food I've had in 12 years in Portland! And even my board president doesn't remember what happened with the glitter.
Cheryl: That painful? And yes, she's something else.
Debra: How sad! You want to borrow some?
MC: The more, the merrier!

Actually, hypnotism only works on the gullible. It's just a state of suggestiveness.

My meetings (that I rarely even bother going to) consist of 200 staff sitting in a cold hall while 5 or 6 people prattle on and on. Not even a damn cup of coffee.

DW: I don't know much about it, but I do know several people who were only able to quit smoking after they did it (they had tried everything else.) So I'm curious.
Birdie: How annoying!

Of course that peon...ummm...person was going to ask for a freebie. It's what stupid people do best.

Alas, my staff meetings or other dept's staff meetings aren't that exciting. Just sleep inducing.

I believe Glitter was also the name of the movie they watched...and also the name of the dancer they hired...

Riot Kitty said...

Betty: I really want to know what happened on glitter night!
GB: Yeah, and clueless egotistical people.
Darth: I wonder...

Why would anybody get a "free" table at an event for a non-profit?

Thanks to you, I'm going to spend my day wondering what happened that left Brazil nuts and glitter on the floor.

Also, can you get hohos at HoHo, or is that too cliched?

GA: THANK YOU!!
ABFTS: Welcome to the club. And...sadly, no. Just fortune cookies.
