Sometimes I wonder if the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it.

Things I like Thursday - Muppets!
I love the Muppets. Tonight we went to see the Muppet movie! No kids in the theater, since it was a 10 pm showing. Just a bunch of us masquerading as adults.
I was talking to the guy at the theater tonight and we agreed that The Muppet Show needed to go on the air again.
"A whole generation is missing out!" he said, and I agreed. The movie even had a pointed scene mentioning how crap kids' shows are today compared to what we got to watch.
One of the reasons I love Mr. RK is because he'll go see these kinds of movies with me. We didn't even have to bring a kid as a decoy.
I remember when they brought the show back in the mid 90s. Wasn't the same. Since Disney bought the Muppets, it's been geared towards children. This movie is the first thing since the purchase that wasn't solely for kids.
If they do bring it back, let's hope that the third time around is charmer.
I remember the second time it came out (back when the Beatles anthology CD "1" first arrived on the shelves, which would be the early 90's), they updated the format and it lasted less than a full season.
Having said that, my favorite muppet from the original muppet show is Dr. Bob.
I think it's cool that you like the Muppets. I know I'm like 100 years older than you, but of course, we had better shows back then. Today's programs are more like brainless entertainment.
Happy Thanksgiving, chica! I'm thankful for YOU, my friend. xo
What a strange coincidence! I was just thinking about doing a blog post on the Muppets but you beat me too it. When I was suffering from depression, Kermit's "It isn't easy being green" was one of my theme songs.
Joey: LOL! I hadn't heard that about it coming on again, I'll have to scout that out. C: It is hilarious, you will totally love it. WIGSF: I didn't see that run, but if it was anything like "Muppet Babies," I'd probably throw up. I loved this movie, though, because it was totally fine for adults. I wasn't expecting Kermit's comment about picturing everyone naked. G: Which one was he? I also didn't realize until seeing the credits last night that the Muppet I simply knew as "Floyd" was really "Sgt. Floyd Pepper." S: You can't be that much older, and you don't look old enough to have kids the ages you do! But yeah, the programs were great. And I am thankful for you, too :) H: Ditto! LG: You can still do it. I actually didn't know about the green song when I was depressed...it probably would have made me laugh. S: I love Cookie Monster! Big Bird irritates me though.
L: Forgot to write to you, sorry! This movie has English translations for the Swedish chef and Gonzo's chickens :) KD: Excellent! You will love it. It really is for adults.
Agreed, the Muppets shaped my childhood. And kids shows, as well as adult shows, are pretty much all mindless garbage these days. I'm glad you guys can go to flicks like this together without pretending it's for the kiddies:)
Eh, I go to all the "kids shows" like Muppets, Happy Feet, etc and love them far more than the "adult fare" like battele los angeles...just better stuff.
And Fozzy is about the coolest thing this side of me...so not very cool, but I like him anyway
ABFTS: Yeah, that was one of the litmus tests when we got together ;) Darth: Exactly! I mean about the kids' shows. GA: Maybe they will like them more when they grow up? :)
I'm glad to see the Muppets making a comeback. My kids' minds are fueled by garbage these days. It's all about educational cartoons anymore, and not about the good stuff that develops imagination and character!

I thought I read somewhere that the Muppet Show was going on the air again?
My only memory of the Muppets is Kylie singing with Kermit the frog. I've never been jealous of a frog before.
Loooove the muppets! So excited for this movie!
Cxx
TEACHER PUNCH!!!

Me, too. I loved the Swedish Chef the most. :)

Love the "Mama...Mama??" part of the video. :)

My brothers and I were planning on going to see it too. Who needs kids to see the Muppets??!??!!

My adult children love the Muppets. My grandchildren, not so much:)

Ahhh, the legendary Dr. Bob, head honcho at "Vetenarian Hospital, the continuing story of a quack whose gone to the dogs."
Most memorable episode:
A drum battle between Animal and Buddy Rich.

DJ: That's true - it's like vegetables or garbage, and nothing in between. Vive la imagination!
PS G: I will go look for that on YouTube.
