Happy Daddy's Day!

I think all of the important things I have learned in my life have come from my dad (that, and when I wouldn't listen, by banging my head against brick walls.)

I'm going to illustrate this with pictures from our trip, which he generously provided.

Some of the things I've learned from him...

Take time to enjoy simple moments of beauty. You might find it where you least expect it. I found this delightful flower box in the middle of Manhattan.

Family is who you choose to love, not necessarily who you are related to by blood. Blake and I have so much in common (including a love of naps, that the lack of similar DNA is unimportant.

Art is important, and all around us.

The wilderness is a good place to travel through between cities.

Life isn't fair, and at times you must have nerves of steel.

But for those times, family is a phone call away - and dessert is a spoonful away!

Thanks, Daddy! Happy Father's Day.

How cool! I love the way Blake has his foot wrapped around his other leg. Great pics!

Jonah Hex and Peter and Max?

No wonder he needed a nap. That's some heady reading ;-)

My Dad taught me all the ways to get the most from an expense account. And how to make the most mundane event into a butt kicking story.

Dads are great.

So glad you had a nice Father's Day. My dad definitely taught me early on that life is not fair. Best advice ever, and it served me well.

Looks like you had a good trip!

Dad's are the best, and I think i got all my best traits from him and all my worst from my mother.

Love the way you created this post, Chica...the photos and the lessons you learned from your dad are priceless. Your napping brother is adorable, btw. :)

I absolutely love this tribute to your dad illustrated with photos. I'll bet he did, too.

Great flashes of art and I like that photo of sleeping Blake. It is so lovely that you love your brother so much.

Thanks everyone! My dad said, "You exaggerate - I taught you perhaps 10 percent of what you know."

The other 90%, as he puts it, I learned "from hitting the rock in the middle of the river, instead of going around it."
