Words for Wednesday

Hello! I'm at least temporarily out of my cat cave. I'm sorry for the absence and will visit your blogs soon.

My good friend Sue at the Elephant's Child blog passed the torch on to me for Words for Wednesday.
The skinny: I give you words, you run with (and write with) them if you so choose.

This has been a trying time, so I am choosing words that represent things I take solace in:

Coffee
Profanity
Cats
Flowers
Cards
Writing

I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

What a great list of words...I could basically find comfort in just the top three..caffeine, cussing and cats. Hope you are OK...thinking good thoughts and sending them your way.

Hi RK...I hope the light at the end of the tunnel is drawing closer and shining brighter for you. Here is my attempt for this week.

"Remy and Shama, my two CATS aka bosses, tossed a hissy fit and a PROFANITY or three my way this morning because I slept in. How dareI?

I have no idea why they were complaining because I did warn them late last night before going to bed the WRITING was on the wall for such an event to occur because of the lateness of the hour; that it was on the CARDS a sleep-in was in store. Therefore I hadn’t expected an uprising and such abuse because of my late rising!

They could’ve at least made me a cup of COFFEE while they waited instead of complaining! They know where the machine and my favourite mug decorated with the multi-coloured FLOWERS are. They’re where they always are!"

A very interesting choice of words, whatever I come up with will be posted at my blog on Friday, April 8th.

I like that second image, I wouldn't mind sticking something like that on my front door....or on a t-shirt

She winced. Nicole is difficult. Needy, demanding, self obsessed and insistent.
Yet again she was dealing from the 'your insensitivity hurt me' pack of cards. And there was another email which needs a response. Quickly, before neglect was added to the catalogue of sins.
Soon, but not yet. Writing to her has to wait. Distractions are essential. Cats, flowers, coffee. Strong drink. And the occasional profanity. Two can play the Petulant Princess game.

Love Lee's take on ths weeks words. My cats are guilty of similar sins. Often.

"Cats!" I cursed. "Flowers, cards, writing."

My friend looked at me like I was the most evil person alive. "How dare you use such profanity in my presence."

I gazed directly into their eyes. "Coffee," I said.

They fainted.

I am never quite sure how this works. Anyway instead of posting on my blog, here is my offering for these great words. By the way, how did you manage to avoid your very favorite word?

Pour a cup of coffee
Consider vanity
Carefully pondering
Many words of profanity.

Never curse cats
Independent in powers
But speak to weeds
That invade your flowers.

Writing with caution
In cards of greeting,
Using heartfelt words
Of love quite fleeting.

Way to represent!

I got flowers and two Starbucks gift cards for my cat, with a poem to show her in writing just how much I don't hate her, but all I got was profanity, so I ended up giving her coffee instead. That was received with a slightly softer hiss.

I had to delete above comment because I felt convicted to do so. So here is its replacement:

Drinking her now cold COFFEE, elderly Miss Harris considered her lengthy past and now diminishing future.

Her entire life had revolved around her zinnias and FLOWER shows. She cared for over two dozen CATS at last count. Summary of her life was that she was luke-warm as a person. Neither hot nor cold.

She pondered her coming years. Miss Harris took pen and postCARD in hand and began WRITING.

She wrote an anonymous letter to Mrs. Long, the president of the Methodist Ladies Auxiliary. Using every word of PROFANITY she knew, plus more from raunchy porn romance novels, Miss Harris penned a long sarcastic and offensive missive.

Closing was simple: Sincerely Yours, Scroo U. Bich

That said, Miss Harris stamped it and watched two blocks to post the letter from Old Man Peters' mail box, raising the red flag. Snorty giggles filled with joy.

Coffee? Only during the winter and only superstrong with a caffiene shot.

Profanity is the ban of my existence, yet how can one be profane without the playful "ity" added to it?

Cats.....singular, nonsensical and has no problem jumping on my chest to wake me up for breakfast @ 4:30a.

Flowers....for Algernon, a book we were forced to read in certain high school classes, but never did.

Cards....high low, jacks or better, ante up for three card monte and watching poker is a lot like watch pre-shot clock college hoops.

Writing...my writing is not written rotten.

The cats had nothing but words of profanity toward me because their coffee was late in arriving. Later, amid flowers and writing cards of apology, they forgave me - then peed on my bed.
