Two hours of my life I will NEVER get back

Thank you, Woody Allen. I usually like your movies and with the past run of good flicks, I thought you'd not stoop lower than Shadows and Fog in terms of terribly depressing dramas. But I was wrong! Blue Jasmine dashed my faith.

Great acting. I was even impressed by Andrew Dice Clay, who was oddly the one reason I had reservations about seeing the movie - he turned out to be one of the best characters. Alec Baldwin's bad hair dye did nothing for him. Cate Blanchette is great but thoroughly depressing.

In short, save yourself $10 unless you want to shell out money to watch someone else's existential crisis on screen.

Anyhow, hello to all of you blog friends and please pardon my absence from blogland for a few days. I'm in Minnesota visiting my family. I have managed to outrun the mosquitoes so far, but not the amazing amount of plaid.

Meanwhile my dad is convinced that paying $6 a month for encryption services will somehow protect his privacy. I in turn wonder how many people from ANONYMOUS and the Black Hat convention the NSA has tried to recruit, and think he's going to be wasting his money.

I'll pass your review on to My Rare One. She was thinking of going to "Blue Jasmine." Personally, I think Woody's best work is long behind him.

Thanks for the heads up. Woody does existential crap well, but I am over it.
Survive your family. And the plaid.

I will see this film when it is on DVD...(Wish I could see it sooner....)
I personally like the films that Woody Allen makes that are not just light fair---My favorite film of his is "CRIMES & MISDEMEANORS"....Not exactly a barrel of laughs, but it is filled with wonderful questions of morality and the things people are capable of---even those who might think they could not possibly commit evil crimes, find their moral compass running off the rails.
"BLUE JASMINE" sounds like another film of his that deals with deeper things---And I am drawn to that...PLUS, I LOVE Actors, and Kate Blanchete's work is always right up there with the Best of The Best.
I'll comment to you after I see it, my dear....But, it won't be for a while....
This being "confined" has it's down side!!!

Enjoy your trip.....(Even all the plaid...lol!)

Oh, yes. The trademark glasses can go.

Bridie says it best. "Woody Allen is a creepy man. He is one of those people that is just ewwww!"

I can only add the fact that "once a pedophile always a pedophile" and I don't care how you justify it. He doesn't get my dimes and neither does Roman Polanski.

I like Woody Allen but I haven't seen one of his films for years. Maybe I should check it out!

I love Minnesota. Have fun!!

Thanks for the warning about Blue Jasmine. Today's Kansas City Star's movie critic was saying it's a "must see". That critic is ALWAYS wrong.

Have a great visit in Minnesota.

Enough is enough already! I whack my forehead often enough as it is without Woody's help!

I watched a good movie yesterday; it had been on TV and I'd recorded it. Unfortunately, however, it did cause a few tears towards it end. "Barney's Version" starring Paul Giamatti. A life's portray...

I also watched "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada" on Saturday and ended up tearing my hair out! Ouch! The recording cut out probably less than five minutes from the movie's ending!!!!!! Grrrrr! The movie must have run overtime...very frustrating; and I was really enjoying the movie!! Directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones; along with January Jones, Dwight Yoakam and a host of others.

I had to stop reading after the first line because I really want to see this movie. Although I am well aware this will cost me 2 hrs. of my life :P

Who's the encryption services from? I heard DuckDuckGo is pretty good.

$6? There are plenty of free encryption services, and as mentioned, no one really knows if they actually even work or not.

I still haven't found a Woody Allen movie that I truly enjoy, which I know in the film world is sacrilege, but it's true...

I'm going to go out on a limb here.

Woody Allen has always sucked.

There I said it. Scarlett Johansen has done so many of his movies that her daddy issues have been taken care of....

I was forced to watch so many Woody Allen movies while growing up that today I can't watch any of them, even the ones he directs. I can hear his voice, his vocal cadence, in the actors voices as they speak. I can guess a Woody Allen movie even without being told he is involved. He drives me crazy. He can be funny, but he irritates me very quickly. VERY quickly. So even though his movies have spectacular stars in them I pretty much can't watch them at all.
