I had a happy announcement to make today, but then I saw the headlines.
I can't say it any better than Patton Oswalt did:
"This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are
prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of
them is, every once in a while, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the
species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness. But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white
blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually
wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak.
This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if
humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.
"So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just
garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye
and think, 'The good outnumber you, and we always will.'
Nothing can make death and explosions okay. But at least insights like
this can make the future seem better."

What he said is no doubt true, but....meanwhile those killed and wounded and their family's are the victims of the insanity and have to live with the fallout and results, for the rest of their lives, and in some cases going on into another generation.
I look forward to reading your happy news!
When I saw this I was immediately reminded of the old days when the IRA carried out attacks like this...
Beautifully said, but as OldLady of the Hills said, not a consolation (yet) to those directly affected. Just the same I hope and believe that he is right.
Can we have your good news soon?
Let's hope they are able to track down the perpetrators quickly.
We have to look for something positive out of such horrific news. God is more powerful than the Devil.
That is a powerful message. It is difficult to focus on the good when hearing of these horrific acts of hate.
It is well said, though from an evolutionary point of view there is nothing to say humans could not become either more evil or less evil. Plenty of species destroy themselves.
Also fitting is the quote from Rogers.
Always look for the helpers.
Beautifully put. I'll have to share that quote.
We have to focus on all the good and the love. The evil in this world cannot be allowed to sink us.
I just find it ironic that whatever these terrorists, whether homegrown or foreign, hope to achieve by their acts of violence: exactly the opposite happens. Their vile atrocities just show us that there is still the good in humanity, and they unite us even more, and I'm not talking about just as a country, but as human beings.
What a great message. Thank you for posting it.
I was just impressed it came from Patton Oswalt. A side of him I had not seen and definitely appreciate.
