Pollen has been an enemy of mine ever since I can remember. But more so since I have lived in the Northwest.
This week, I have either flu or hayfever, which have the same symptoms. I'm betting pollen has something to do with the aggravation, however.
Mr. RK brought home a picture where they viewed pollen under one of the uber incredible microscopes at work. It looks like the spiky monkey ball things that fall off of trees in California. In other words, this stuff is MEAN.
I'm tired of supporting the kleenex industry. I'm annoyed about missing work, as well as sounding like Zsa Zsa Gabor. I'll spare you the details, but it has been a very long visit from Mr. Yuck.
I tell you, pollen, this means war.
Right now I am struggling with a section of another fiction project I'm working on - another children's book - where the characters meet what the believe is a nemesis. (Actually, it's a baby octopus, but they're on a quest to be detectives, and have decided they need a nemesis.)
And so, as life imitates art, I have found mine!
Pollen won't give up, and neither will I. At this point, it looks like a draw, but the fight continues. In the meantime, I am saving special hugs for Mr. RK. He decided I wasn't writing enough fiction, so he bought me a laptop. He also went out and got one of my favorite dinners tonight, as it was one of the only things that I felt like eating, as pollen has affected my sense of taste.
Yes, he really is that good.

Pollen/allergies are such a bitch. How wonderful that Mr RK is so definitively and positively on your side.
And my curiosity is at work. What dinner could tempt you when nothing else could...
Mr.RK sounds like a Prince of a fellow....
The Pollen this year, here in Southern California has been atrocious! I am so sorry you. are suffering so horribly my dear.....I hope it is NOT the Flu, in a way...But if it is, your chances of recovery I would think would be quicker....Sending Healing Hugs....
(((((((HUGS))))))))
What a great husband! I feel your pain on the pollen, although it cleared out of here by mid-May. Our big pollen season starts in April.
Love the picture of the sneezing cat. Too bad you have to cope with those pollen though.
All the points to Mr RK!
So sorry you're suffering, my lovely. We're a hay fever household and this season has been rough. I'm feeling grateful for rainy days right now. Sending good thoughts your way.
Oh man, I think every good story needs a nemesis but some just don't agree. Ugh. Anyway what was the meal that appealed to your taste buds. I'm suffering from the same malady and eating more and more as I seek something to please me but nothing does.
Awww, Mr RK is a sweetie! I hope pollen stops kicking your ass soon.
In other good news in looking for a nemesis, you'll probably get a letter from lawyers for kleenex for not properly marking it as trademarked.
Yeah, I've seen pollen under a microscope. No wonder it's so hard to get rid of.
I struggle with allergies too, but they were absolutely AWFUL when I lived in a humid climate. Some nasal sprays keep me somewhat sane.
Mr. RK is a keeper! Happy writing!
Sorry you're not doing too well. :-( I have some minor allergies to pollen too, it sucks. Anyways, hoping your allergies subside soon.
Sorry RK, hope you feel better soon.
You sure you're not pollen my leg, RK???
I think you should write a tale about pollen!
Fortunately, I don't have an allergies...none that I'm aware of, anyway....well, other than the public! ;)
Get well soon, or ask Kleenex for shares in their business!
And a pat on the back to Mr. RK from me for being a very good bloke! :)
Mr. RK, thanks for taking such good care of our favorite machinegun toting kitty.
Everyone - gnocchi. YUM!
And thanks for the good wishes. Lee, I'm with you!
A new laptop is nice (says the man in the yellow hat).
Pollen is an enemy here as it inflicted untold carnage on my little diva this past week (like being stuck with 25 needles to see what it was exactly she was allergic to).
Zsa Zsa Gabor? Since I know what you sound like, talking like Zsa Zsa is not an improvement.
Father Nature's Corner
My wife is allergic to everything. I mean, everything. Even her allergist was blown away. I can always tell it's allergy season because she stops functioning as a human being and is just a walking ball of mucus. So... yep, I know the feeling. Hang in there!
I used to have terrible allergies. My eyes would swell shut, asthma, eczema, boils. The cure? The day I got pregnant with my son. All of it gone. I still have sensitivities but no more prescriptions or hospital stays!
So, you could try that.
It's no fun when the muncinex guys come calling and make themselves home in your sinuses. I hope you feel better!!! And Mr RK, cool beans, thumbs up, good going!!
I used to suffer really badly from Hay fever and then one year it just stopped. I read somewhere it has an 8 year cycle. Anyway I hope you fell snot free very soon!!
This year has been pretty bad for allergies. I may have to start living in a bubble. I feel your pain.
oh it never used to bother me but now it has been making me feel horrible. I had hay fever about 4 times this year...I feel your pain
