Just call me Scrooge

A rant in pictures...

You know how I feel about the more commercial aspects of this season. The creater of this wrapping paper and I must have been separated at birth.
Who the hell came up with the idea of wrapping presents, anyhow? Isn't enough to say, "Hey! This is a gift for you?" Mr. RK and I donate instead of buying gifts for adults in our lives and ask them to do the same. I did get some things for the kiddo. Anyhow - in my house, guess who does the wrapping?

At least I did get some help this morning.

"What's this? Clearly, this is a new cat cave."
"All things considered, a job well done."
There are teethmarks in the wrapping paper now. Apparently it's yummy.

Back to my rant: And then there is the weather. It's supposed to be 9 degrees tonight. That's fucking balmy compared to the -25 my family has seen in Minnesota, but you know what? I live on the West Coast for several reasons, and not having it be 9 is one of them. At work we actually turned off the vents and plugged in space heaters, because the vents were blowing cold air.

Not to mention the fact that Friday, I had to spend the morning working from home because multiple accidents resulted from this much snow:
Yes, all of you in the Midwest, East, Canada, Europe and other parts North are laughing at us, and rightfully so.

Granted, at least it has been somewhat sunny. Next week it gets a lot warmer (highs in the 30s and 40s) and it rains, which also sucks.

Winter, this is what Vasil thinks of you, and so do I:

Love that wrapping paper. If I saw it, I would buy it.
Vasil is soooo familiar. And Jazz opens all our christmas presents. Sigh. The paper rolls show tooth and claw marks. A bit like me really.
I am to give donations - except for the children. The donation which pleased me most was buying a pushbike for a midwife in Africa.

Ouch, haven't we done enough to Christmas already?

You sure do have a lot of snow there. If I blink, I might miss it. Oh wait, I think I did.

Gotta love people who don't know how to drive unless the weather is clear, dry and sunny.

Haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet and being a typical guy, will probably wait until the week before to do it.

Indeed, down in the south, a little snow goes a lonnggggggggggggggggggggg way to making traffic miserable.

i never attempted to drive in snow...you never know if there is a sheet of ice underneath the snow.

such cute kitties!!

big hugs!

let alone slippery conditions that make driving difficult.

keep warm!

Clearly you are having a woeful time right now so I won't mock your dusting of snow. I'm stealing the photo of that fab wrapping paper to use in my own "bah humbug" post later next week -- thanks!

I just mostly get those gift bags - takes two seconds to stick a present in it. :)

Yes - when we have snow in the south, that's what happens to our traffic, too. Many accidents.

When I used to buy Christmas presents (notice the past tense) I hated buying wrapping paper. I could have bought a better present if not for having to wrap the damn thing!

I want to see photos of your snowman.

It was -40 degrees here on Friday. Quit your whining. :|

Do you know the street value of this mountain?

It's zero degrees here right now. We don't have a single degree to give. It's just awful. As for wrapping presents, I just use the comics from the weekend newspaper. Some people say it adds charm. Some people say it's sheer laziness. I say it's a bit of both?

EG: What an awesome gift! I will totally buy the paper if I see it as well.
GA: Don't fret, I actually just sent cards out in the mail ;)
GB: There are similar people in California who do this shit when it rains. Go figure.
Charles: I remember a time like that in Houston. Basically everything shut down.
Betty: Snow, no problem. Ice, no way!
Debra: Mock away! I think it's ridiculous.
Lynn: That is a great idea! I will totally do that next year.
Lotta: It will soon be a past tense thing, because everyone will be over 18! HAHA! And I got the wrapping paper for cheap. Coupons, coupons.
DW: Sold!
Mike: Um. WAT?
ABFTS: That does suck. And comic wrapping sounds like fun to me.

I'm with you on Christmas and commercialism. We let it be known to the adults in the large extended family long ago, not to buy us more "stuff". It won't be reciprocated.

Beautiful cats! But... where's this snow you speak of??

Classy wrapping paper! They must be selling a ton of it!

That Christmas paper doesn't impress me much...maybe I'm getting even grumpier as I get older - something I never thought possible...on both counts, probably! ;)

I'm not overly religious...and I'm not doing anything outlandishly over-the-top this Christmas. I'll be flying way under the radar...purposely!

I've sent off presents to my grand-niece and grand-nephew...and they are the only ones getting gifts from me! I probably will buy a couple of special treats for Remy and Shama (my two cats)because they deserve them!

And I bought myself a new maxi-dress and a wooden beaded necklace to adorn it...my Christmas gifts to me (because I deserve them!)...to wear at a pre-Christmas party next week.

And I didn't gift wrap the gifts I gave to myself!

Totally amused by that wrapping paper. Wonder if it would be ill-advised to wrap my super-religious in-laws' presents in it? Nah...what could possibly go wrong?

I am not laughing at you even though I am in the Midwest. I wouldn't wish this cold weather on anyone...let alone people that aren't used to it. What the hell is going on with the weather?

Love the kitty pictures. Darling little helper you have.

And why is it, I wonder, that cats love to get right into the middle of the mix!

It is hopeless here every time I change the sheets on my bed...what should take hardly any time, takes forever, because my two furry rascals think it a game...and they have to be the centre of attention and the main players!

They can be sleeping elsewhere but they always have their antennae up and active!

Love your kitty photos and OMG, the wrapping paper. Where can I get me some of that??

I hear you with the weather. Although it's like a beautiful Spring day here in South Florida, my son and hubby were in Dallas last weekend for a tournament with ice on the roads and sidewalks (lots of slip and falls and flights cancelled). They were not prepared for this kind of thing, the Dallas folks as well as the hockey team. I'm so glad my daughter and I didn't spend the $$$ to freeze our butts off, however, I'm scheduled to fly to Minnesota for President's Day...so I'll find out what below zero feels like. I'm shivering just thinking about it.

Happy F'n Holidays to you, my friend! Enjoy the season. :)

MS CP: LOVE your screen name! And what a fabulous idea.
Anil: Or thinking I can't see him :)
Cheryl: I have no idea! Thank you for not laughing.
Lee: Absolutely! For independent creatures, they're rather involved.
Ily: I totally want to get some! MN on President's Day? Dios mio!

Ha ha, love the Merry Christmas Wanker paper. I can think of a couple of people I'd love to send that to, although then it would mean buying them a gift too!

Your cats are adorable.
