Moody

Sorry for the absence - a friend of ours got some horrible news and it has just interfered with my day-to-day functioning for the past few days.

No one wants to read depressing stuff, and I don't particularly want to write about it. I've tried to think of funny stuff to write, but am in and out of this funk at the moment and it's just not possible today.

I have to say that our friend is pretty amazing. Faced with what is likely a terminal illness, he wrote, "I never knew we had so many friends! The support has been overwhelming...and I am trying to keep a sense of humor throughout this." I know I wouldn't be that graceful. I'd be mad, sad, terrified - all of the things I felt when I had already survived a life-threatening illness. During the time it was life-threatening, I was too out of it to feel any of those things. I feel terrible that Mr. RK and my family and friends did. I can't imagine any of us going through what my friend and his family are going through now.

I don't care if you are religious, spiritual, or neither, would you please say prayers for him and his family or just keep them in your thoughts? Because I'm at a loss for what to do or say in a situation like this.

The fact that you're spending time with him or doing things for him is enough. The fact that you're there for him is what he probably wants most.

So sorry to hear about your friend's situation. I will remember him and his family in prayer. Of course, we would hope and pray that he will be healed but it is just as important no matter what else, that he feels surrounded and supported by love of friends and family and has peace in his heart ......and it would seem he is doing well in that regard. God bless.

I'm sure it helps him to have that kind of support around him. You are a good friend.

I am very sorry to hear this and yes, at times we could be at a loss for words and just being there is a real comfort RK so I hope you don't feel too sad.

Yes, a prayer out there for your friend and thank you for sharing this with all your blog friends.

Take care and big hugs too.

Thanks everyone...I sent him a teddy bear. It's a long story, but he collects them and I hope it will make him smile.

We can't be funny all the time. It's completely understandable, and some prayers are being sent his way.

Don't feel obliged to entertain us - that is not what this is all about, IMO!

If your friend feels that people are there for him, then you are all doing a great job. When my family was in a bad situation we found out how few true friends we had - it was a bitter experience.

Birdie, ABFTS, RC: Thank you!
And RC, I am really sorry. We had two family tragedies within a year and while some people were wonderful, some disappeared.
