Don't hate me because it's 72 and sunny!

The drive was a couple of hours longer than it should have been, because there were literally 15 (at least) road construction projects between Portland and San Jose. All stimulus, probably...but Mr. RK is a good traveling companion and put up with my cranky nervousness when I'm not sure how things work (e.g. driving his car) or unexpected surprises come up (me driving the bit through the mountains.)

I am terrified of heights in some circumstances, but I don't let it stop me from doing most things...I've been to the Grand Canyon and looked down, been on big rollercoasters, had no fear looking out on New York City from the Empire State Building. But high cliffs and driving through mountains (or even being a passenger) is terrifying for me. I forgot to mention this to Mr. RK, and by the time we got to flatland, I practically screamed, "DO YOU WANT TO DRIVE NOW??????"

Tomorrow we're going to Muir Woods and I am not even looking, much less driving, over the higher-than-high cliff it takes to get there.

Here's a pic I took from the road.

PS I am trying to visit blogs but I haven't been online hardly at all, so if I don't stop until next Wednesday when we're back, I'm not ignoring you ;) Unless your name is Phil.

on the bright side, the entire drive is boring even if there is no construction...

I have nice weather here in VA too, back home in MI the coats have come out of their closets...while I hate that cold weather, I wish I were home! Enjoy your trip and take lots of pictures!

I get nervous on windy mountain roads too. My husband has no fear and will drive at normal speeds while twisting and turning around scary roads. Scares the crap out of me.

Have a great rest of your vacation!

Yeap I hate you! I want the sun! I'd rather be driving through the mountains myself than trusting someone else to do it! A bit like riding a motorbike. I'd rather be in control.

Have a cool break!

When I was in the Philippines, you could take a bus up into the mountains. The roads look down on a long drop on one side and there are no guard rails. Also, people bring chickens and stuff on the bus with them. It was an adventure. I'm glad I was only 21 then!

I could use a breath of fresh 72 degree air.

I hate the word LOL. But it seems fitting in this circumstance, since I'm dying of a horrible chest cold and laughing so hard I can't stop coughing.

Lord! That was FUNNY!!!

Not the heights part - I can see the nail marks in the steering wheel.

The boys say HI MOM!!

C'mon on now, what is a driving trip without constructions projects?

Pretty dull if you ask me.

Every single long road trip I've been on, has had construction projects (back in 2002, I did a road trip across part of the US and it seemed that every single part of US 6 from New York to Nebraska had construction and re-routes).
