Ridiculous and ridiculouser

First, the shitty news: my uncle who already has cancer had a major stroke. My dad got to see him last week and then he took a turn for the worst. I'm sending flowers because a card might not make it in time. Fuck.

Now, for the distractions. Is it me, or is there just a lot of ridiculous shit going on right now?

*Ninja edit!~ When I challenged you to top all that, I meant the ridiculous stuff, not my own personal family stuff. Sorry about that...I'm not trying to make you break out the kleenex.*

Some examples...

1. Trying to take Magneto seriously as a bad guy when he's wearing bellbottoms. (Yes, I loved the new X-Men, but most of it was set in 1973.)

2. One of my employees asking permission to spend $200 on a fee for us to go to an event, without including any information whatsoever. I request details. She sends none, and asks again. I bang my head against the desk. No, not really, but only because I opened the email at home.
3. The kiddo being picked up for shoplifting because he ran out of food money...but he has plenty of pot. (Major desk banging here.)

4. Speaking of X-Men, all of a sudden Nicholas Hoult looks just like my fucking brother!
OK, without the makeup. About the same amount of fur, though.

5. A trip to the store did not get along with Mr. RK. He got no ATM receipt, misunderstanding the instructions, took out too little cash, and then the entire store was out of one dollar bills, so he got $4.78 in change. As in coins.

There. Top all that. I double dog dare you.

1) Very sorry to hear about your uncle.

2) Asking for money w/o providing details on the particulars is par for the course in my world.

3) Don't you know it's more important to get wasted than it is to be healthy?

4) I got back extra change because the cashier couldn't be bothered to get a roll of dimes out of the safe.

Really sorry about your uncle.

A $200 event fee is nothing when it's not your own money. Ask my kids.

And I'm wanting to see the X-men movie, but was unaware of the bellbottoms. Might have to rethink this.

I can't top any of it, but I can tell you things have been quite shitty here.....MERCURY RETROGRADE has begun it's 'Shadow Time'....
My dryer is very very sick and The Washer, went completely wonky, an hour later.....It's like a Virus has infected them both....
Head Banging is definitely called for!!!!

Aaaargh. No can't top it, and won't try. There is more than enough non alphabet shittiness (and imbecility) around at the moment. LOVE the lol cat.
And I am very sorry to hear about your uncle.

My thoughts go out to you in your sad time regarding your uncle, RK. He will love and appreciate the beauty of the flowers and the emotions that go with them.

As for the rest of your post...yes...there is a lot of ridiculous nonsense, stupidity, idiotic stuff going on everywhere at the moment!

And in the words of Howard Beale's rant in "Network" -

"But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

It may not stop all the stupidity that's going on, but it sure as hell will make you feel a lot better!

How are things developing with your Uncle? Hope things are easing up for him and for your family.

Any word yet on what the event is about?

Sorry to read Naomi's comment that Mercury is in retrograde. There is no way to prepare for that except to hold perfectly still.

Thanks everyone...my uncle has been moved into hospice, so we're hoping for a smooth passing.

Cancer and a stroke... What can I say except that life's unfair and unnecessarily cruel. If life's so important, how come it's so fucking fragile? I heard someone say that today. I think he was right.

Your brother? I saw the new movie today and that guy reminded me of the blue Hulk. Come to think of it, I look like a blue Hulk when I see myself in the mirror at 7 A.M.

So where's my $200? I need it, don't you get it?

Mercury being in retrograde does seem to wreak havoc on our lives - and yours particularly! So sorry about your uncle.

Actually running out of food money but having lots of pot makes perfect sense.

I'm really sorry to hear about your uncle. And about the kiddo. It just amazes me that people find themselves starving when they have things they don't need. I once saw a homeless person begging for food while texting on an iPhone. Let that one sink in.

Sorry to hear about your uncle, I hope things are as good for him as they can be.

Argh, the shoplifter - that sort of thing drives me nuts. The ones that bug me most are the ones that complain that their kids are hungry while they are smoking. SMOKING! That is not a cheap habit in this country! (Bangs fist on desk).

Your uncle is the worst of this post.

It reminds me of my own uncle who we suddenly lost. On Thursday he was telling my Aunt what he'd like to eat on Sunday for when he got out of the hospital.

We lost him on Saturday.

That's all you can wish and hope for, RK. No one wants to see their loved ones suffer.

My thoughts are with you.
