Monsters

I'm not judging him - that's trivia that Mr. RK found after we saw the movie last night. Apparently, Japanese fans of the gigantic fucking monster think his latest American incarnation is a bit too chubby. Maybe he just needs to realize that cookies are a sometimes food...
Anyhow. I thought the cheering during the monster scenes was just because we were in a theater pub where they served beer, but my friend K said there was cheering during the same scenes in a regular theater.  I don't drink and I joined in too, because, hey! Monsters!!

Speaking of monsters, am I the last person to find out that the Ewoks were furry little man eaters? Mr. RK informed me of this the other night. Don't ask me how this came up. This is our household.

Naive me: "WHAT? They were eating people?!"
Mr. RK: "Well, when they strung up the rebels in that net, and started a fire over a spit, what did you think they were going to do?"
Me: "Oh."
Mr. RK: "And you remember at the end, how they were playing drums on Storm Trooper helmets? And all of those Storm Troopers who died in the battle? What do you think they did with the rest of them? THEY ATE THEM!"

You talk about bursting my bubble. If our cats had opposable thumbs, I know they'd take over the world, but now I'm not sure I want to know what else they'd do.

I am CERTAIN that if our cats had opposable thumbs there would be a revolution. And not the bloodless kind.
Sad that even a monster gets sizist comments. Just wait, someone will be talking about Godzilla's need for botox and collagen implants shortly. A smoother, slicker monster...

Haven't seen the movie and probably never will. The 'Original' GODZILLA was enough for me.....I'm also not interested in ZOMBIES or VAMPIRES or any of those creatures.... I guess I am really an old foggie....lol!

I shudder to think of cats with thumbs of any kind, though one of my first cats had 6 toes and her front paws looked like each had a thumb....But she was a real sweet dear person. She lived to be 20 1/2 years old....Maybe having 6 toes helped!

I wanted to see the new Godzilla so badly and tried to rally all the grandchildren to meet me at an IMAX theater for the premier event. None of us could do it. Boo Hoo.

I love that last picture of the cat under the blanket with the little monster getting ready to leap. It kind of depicts how I feel about my life. lol

Never really thought about Ewoks as human eaters either. Hum.

I never even thought about that, and yet... I still consider Ewoks just as cute as before. I don't know what's wrong with me.

When are they doing "Catzilla"?

Well, I haven't seen Godzilla yet, but I am seeing X-Men tomorrow. And the guys from MST3K will be riffing on the 90's Godzilla soon...

As far as Ewoks, go, Mr. RK is indeed correct.

There was cheering and clapping in the Godzilla theater when we went. No beer that I know of. Blue fire down evil monster's throat. What's not to cheer?

Those ewoks were total headhunters, but got away with it because they were so cute. Like fat Godzilla.

So this is version number 12, right?

Sorry to burst my bubble, but Japanese horror flicks not do me well.

Which is to say, quoting the Sheriff of Nottingham from Men in Tights, "Walk this way."

Never heard of that movie.

The problem is, every time a monster tries to lose a bit of weight, go jogging, pump a bit of iron, people start shooting at them...

Ewoks eating Stormtroopers - yes, I can't say I had joined the dots there, but makes total sense to me! It's not like they are cannibals or anything. I know that in fantasy settings you are not supposed to eat sentient beings, but once someone is dead they aren't intelligent any more are they?

Don't despair about your lack of knowledge about monsters, RK...you're not alone! I know nothing about them, either; until now, that is.

I've only learned the eating habits of Ewoks here, this morning, reading your post.

I'm not sure when I'll have the opportunity to use this invaluable information...but, at least, I've caught up a little and am now almost as knowledgeable as you are about monsters! Thanks! lol

I loved Pacific Rim for that reason. Giant robots punching giant monsters in the face?

Who can't love that.

Theater pub, one of the greatest inventions since thumbs. I can't imagine wanting to see Godzilla where alcohol wasn't involved.

Those pictures are hilarious. Haven't see the new Godzilla yet. Apparently it's only ten minutes Godzilla for a two hour movie, so most Godzilla fans hate it and those who dislike Godzilla love it.

Just a minute. Wait. WHAT kind of Ewoks were you talking about? Is this from Star Wars? THEY EAT PEOPLE?! Noooooo wayyyyyyy!

LL Cool Joe said...

Okay I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I have no idea what you are talking about. :D Well apart from the bit about cats having thumbs. Shall I go and sit in the corner with a Dunce hat on?

I didn't even know there was a Godzilla movie. I need to get my head out of working all the time.

And I hope I don't dream about Ewoks eating Storm Troopers now. :)

Sorry to be late in commenting - I read this at work the other day and commented in my head, I think.

Well I'm glad that 1. I'm not the only person who didn't know about the furry little man eaters, and 2. not the only one who instinctively wanted to cheer about the blue flame firebreathing!

Furry Bottoms said...

And? I do think cats have thumbs. They are just not down low with the other claws. They're upper up higher. Aren't those the thumbs? I would've thought so. Anyway, dropped by to see how you were doing.

You just can't trust anything furry. Fact.

To be honest.. Godzilla looks ridiculous!! Small head and short arms LOL and yes Ewoks are scary little gritters!!
