Lately I have been feeling slightly overwhelmed, for both good and bad reasons, all of which are out of my control.
So I saw this on another blog and am repeating it to myself:
And no matter how many strange situations pop up, there are always people who make me laugh.
I had a conversation with a colleague today who was bitching about someone we work with at another organization.
"I have to give him the benefit of the doubt," I told her, "but if you find an email chain" and he's screwing us, "let me know if I need to cut his nuts off."
I have a very laid back volunteer who was across the room and managed to hear me. He has many years of recovery from alcoholism and resulting from that, criminal justice experience. He is very open about it and can even joke about it.
He piped up, "Hey! Tell your friend if she needs someone's nuts cut off, you know someone who's cheap, AND has priors!" (Meaning prior convictions.)
And if that wouldn't make your day, I don't know what would! I'm grateful to have people who know how to make me laugh, and take the time to do it.
A little bit of humor can go a long way.

A little bit of humour (often of the black variety) is essential. Without it I would have drowned long ago.
Anfd how nice to know someone who would act as a squirrel for you (nut removal). True friendship.
Oh Indeed, Indeed! A little bit of humor can FOR SURE, go a long long way...And if your buddy has any free time, there are a couple of people I know whose NUTS need a bit of snipping....lol!
Yes, being able to laugh at your situation is vital.
On that topic, there was a great TV show on last night - The Wipers Times. It was about a group of soldiers who printed a news paper in the trenches in the First World War, poking fun at it all. An amazing, true story. See it if you get the chance.
I'm still wincing about the cut off nuts... yep it's good to laugh, not so good having your private parts cut off.
Hope everything is OK and I'm glad you can find some levity at work.
I like this a lot! Storms always pass xx
Thank heavens for humour -aids so many ills. Thinking of you, friend.
Having a hearty laugh is as good as an orgasm, they say. Just FYI.
^ That's why we write comedy, Debra. That's why we write comedy.
Without humor, I never would have made it married for 23 years!
Love these other comments too :)
yeah, it's mostly the black humor that keeps me going.
Fun group. I thought you mistakenly wrote priors instead of pliers...because I have pliers that could make the nut-cutting much easier. ;)
Mostly black and stupid humor get me through the work day.
I work with a couple of guys who constantly make me laugh with their dry, and at times obnoxious, humor. So fun!
We are living in stressed out time and I think their are a lot of people who will just cut someone's nuts off just for fun. You know how to get a hold of me. Just sayin'...
You know what doesn't heal? Mental or psychological wounds. They never go away and come back at the more inconvenient times.
Those are the worst to inflict on someone.
"A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing." ~ unknown
Yeah but cutting his nuts off goes against the "sweat dries, blood clots, etc" mantra because well there's just nothing left after that. May as well give him a lobotomy.
A person that is devoid of humor is devoid of a personality. They suck the air out of a room. Glad you have some co-workers that make you laugh.
I work in an office where no one speaks. We are all required to remain connected to instant messaging. My coworkers, even while sitting next to me, will IM me. It's insane. And as silent as a library in my office. No jokes, no witty banter, no nothing. Blah.
Then again, no one talks about cutting any men's nuts off, either, so there's that.
It sure does; and I've been in need of it these past few days...long story...too detail...suffice to say I turned to humour to retain my insanity!
I don't have any priors, but I do have a few pairs of scissors, if you need someone to do the job for you, RC! I'm willing! I don't mind being a Scissors Sister as well as being a Twisted Sister! ;)
first off, thank you for sharing your wonderful posts and your sense of humor. i'm most thankful for you my dear friend.
i think a good co-worker is often like being a good friend. glad to hear that you have some co-workers that make you laugh.
hope you're ok.
