Sometimes I wonder if the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on, or by imbeciles who really mean it. - Mark Twain

This would only happen to me!
I have a very large family.
So large, that apparently when someone dies, not everyone finds out.
So when someone else dies, I END UP SENDING A SYMPATHY CARD TO A DEAD PERSON.
Is there a more dysfunctional family than this? I can't imagine there is.
I sent this e-mail to extended family:
I know we are spread across the country, but would some of you PLEASE notify me when someone like Uncle L dies.
I sent him a sympathy card about Aunt L dying! And I am so sorry, Grandma, I would have sent you a card had I known.
As a friend of mine put it, "That would only happen to you!"
Another friend reminded me, "You are supposed to send sympathy cards to the survivors - not the person who died!"

I would be royally pissed..!!
Oh no, chica! That's just not right. :/
Oops, but it's the thought that counts right?
Oh, bless you! I hope they keep you in the loop more now!
Cxx
Last year a neighbor down the road from us died. We saw the family gathering at the homestead and baked a ham to deliver to his widow and the rest only to discover, much to our embarrassment, that she had preceded him in death by six months. Just saying, you're not the only one.
Nothing like being played for the fool.
Common courtesy would dictate that you would at the very least be told about these things.
But no, apparently you aren't worthy enough to be included when a relative has passed on.
Well, it's not as bad as burying the living.
yay confusion!
Hey, if I died, I'd appreciate a card. Why's everyone else but me get one?
lol! Hopefully they'll keep in touch better now. :)
Not your fault at all. Your intentions were good and that's what counts. xo
Thanks for the thoughts! I've been busy burying my head in the sand today...and making relatives feel guilty.
But GA, I feel better now!
BWAAHHHHHAAAHAAAAA You Rock!
J
John: Not on purpose!
Oops , now that is a fuck up!
I think Marnie nailed it
Joe: Yep, unfortunately, that about sums it up.
Darth: I am still wanting to bury my head in the sand!
Hey, uhm, sorry you died. Enjoy the card and the pithy Hallmarkian comments inside!
how could you be embarrassed... it is not that you do not want to do the right thing... but if you don't know??? Your intention was good and that counts (well at least in my book).
Mike: Yeah, that's what I should have written!
H: Thanks :) How could I be embarrassed...let me count the ways!
