Thoughts on cats

So I'm not the only one who liked my kitty more than some humans.

My friend Kirsten's words of wisdom:

it IS losing a friend. a friend who never votes republican or starts dating inmates or steals from your purse, and is always soft and pretty. cat friends may not talk back in english, but in many ways i think they can be better than people friends.

And my brother Nik's:

cats are the only kind of friend you like MORE when they snuggle with your mate.

Love you more than pizza

It may sound silly, but I loved my kitty, Rocco, more than most of my extended family.

And why not? Pets love you unconditionally. They're honest. They don't bullshit you, and they're almost always up for a cuddle.

So Rocco, I miss you terribly. You were a great comfort to me when most of the people I knew were being shits. And as my little sister told me when she was five, I love you more than pizza :)

He was a prick

I won't miss Jerry Falwell's hateful words.

Too bad he didn't croak in an outhouse with his mother. Although my husband notes that the massage therapist probably zipped up his pants and wiped the lipstick off his face before leaving him to be found muerto in his office.

(For those of you who didn't get that outhouse reference, study your First Amendment Supreme Court cases.)

My awesome friend, the menstrual queen of England

Check it out!
http://chartyourcycle.blogspot.com/

She's been in Time Out London, the Guardian, and the Independent - because she's so cool :)

So I'll just refer to her as my oldest friend from college whom I adore, admire and love and yes, that night we stayed up until 5 am playing with Legos was one of the most fun days of my life, too!

As if Bush didn't suck enough

Now he has decided that, despite the fact that one in six hate crimes is based on sexual orientation or gender identity, we don't need to call violent attacks against GLBT citizens hate crimes.

http://www.365gay.com/Newscon07/05/050307hatevote.htm

If, as Bush has claimed before, he truly believes that we should not discriminate or hate based on sexual orientation, he would support this.

What really pisses me off is the fact that he probably doesn't give a fuck - he's just pandering to right wing, so-called "Christians" who are in fact hateful people. And they're the first ones to claim persecution if you say "holiday shopping" instead of "Christmas shopping," but don't try to extend the same rights to gays!

Dumb motherfuckers. You all give Christians a bad name. What happened to love your neighbor as yourself?
